Cinestaan.com contacted Neelam Kothari's husband, actor-director Samir Soni, who said he was both relieved and disappointed. Two other men were accused in the same case: travel agent Dushyant Singh and Dinesh Gawre, Salman's assistant at the time. Gawre is still absconding. The poaching had taken place near a village of Bishnois, a community that revers blackbuck and is passionate about protecting these animals.
He pleaded "not guilty" to the charge, and insisted the evidence presented against him was "false", according to The Hindu news website.
"We will analyse the judgement".
The quantum of punishment will be pronounced later in the day.

Salman Khan has been charged with killing two blackbucks of the antelope family on the intervening night of October 1 and 2 in 1998 during the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Saath Saath Hain. One of Bollywood's biggest stars, the actor has appeared in more than 100 films and is well known for blockbuster action films such as Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard and Ek The Thiger.
It was gathered that the actor had killed the blackbucks which are protected animalas under India's wildlife protection act. August 31, 2007: The Rajasthan High Court sentences the actor to five years in prison, which was suspended a week later on his appeal. Though Khan was arrested by the Bandra police, he was released on bail.
However, H.M. Saraswat, the defence counsel for Salman, said there were "many loopholes in the prosecution's story" and they had "failed to prove the case beyond any doubt".
The final arguments in the case were completed in a Jodhpur rural court on 28 March.
